What the city is building
Rigby is growing quickly, and I’m glad to see investment in infrastructure to support that growth. Looking ahead, I’d love to see continued improvements to roads and traffic flow, more parks and recreation, and thoughtful commercial development that gives residents more options while preserving the small-town character that makes Rigby such a great place to live.

How values have moved
Property values in Rigby have risen significantly over the past five years, driven by population growth, strong demand for housing, and buyers looking for more space and a rural lifestyle while staying close to Idaho Falls and Rexburg. Growth has moderated from the rapid pace of a few years ago, but values have remained strong.
What to budget for
Budget for winter. Snow removal, heating costs, winter tires, and maintaining a longer driveway can surprise people moving to the area. If you’re buying acreage, also plan for things like well, septic, irrigation, and property maintenance. The country lifestyle is worth it, but it comes extra responsibilities.
Your first weekend
Start with the local food scene! Grab a burger at Rigby’s Patty Shack, pizza at Lucy’s, BBQ at Lil’ Mike’s, and coffee at Café et Amour. Rigby may be a small town, but there are some great local spots worth getting to know.
Getting around
Most people drive, and getting around is pretty easy. US-20 gives Rigby quick access to Idaho Falls and Rexburg, making it a convenient place to live between the two. With the area growing, road and traffic improvements are underway and more are being planned to keep up with that growth.
The housing itself
Rigby has a mix of older homes near the center of town, established neighborhoods, newer subdivisions, and rural properties with larger lots and acreage. Most new construction is happening on the edges of town, giving buyers options from newer neighborhood homes to country living with more space.
The seasons
We get four real seasons. Summers are warm with long days, fall is beautiful but short, and winters are cold and snowy. Spring can be unpredictable. Winter means snow removal and planning for icy roads, but the tradeoff is great summers and easy access to year-round recreation.
What's changed
Rigby has grown noticeably over the last five years. We’ve seen more homes, neighborhoods, restaurants and local businesses come in. It feels busier than it used to, but it still has that small-town, rural character that makes Rigby feel like home.
